Development putting swimming holes in peril

By Linda Keese
Special to the Record

Man keeps messing with nature and muddying the water and two prime examples are Hamilton Pool and Dead Man's Hole.

Landowner Lance Armstrong and The Ranches at Hamilton Pool developer Cosmo Palmieri have bulldozed, jack hammered and otherwise changed soil surfaces that alter water clarity and surface runoff affecting these two unique structures. And the unusual rains this summer haven't cleared them out. Who knows how many eons it took for the caves to collapse over time?

How many thousands of years were required to etch out the swimming holes, drop by drop of spring fed water at a time? In a blink, they were comprised.
