Cavers say their world is the ‘final frontier’

RINEYVILLE — The entrance to the cave just outside of Rineyville atop a farmer’s ridge is a slit between two big rocks, nestled in a small copse of trees and sealed off by a small barbed wire fence from straying livestock and snooping trespassers.
At a casual glance, the opening appears to be a small den no more than a few feet deep, perhaps home to coyotes or other small woodland mammals.
But, as veteran Hardin County caver Glenn Driskill points out, it is the opening to the true “final frontier.” Driskill is a co-founder of both the Louisville and Fort Knox grottoes.
