Harry Potter Going to Scotland?
by Scott Weinberg | May 29, 2007
According to one very excited Scotland newspaper, there's a good chance that producers will shoot part of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" in the cliffs and caves of Northern Scotland.

Looks like the filmmakers are looking for a spot to shoot our heroes' final search for "The Guy We Should Not Name." Here's what the newspaper has to say: "The producers are interested in using the caves and cliffs as part of the dramatic climax of the new film - the sixth in the series - in which the heroes wind their way along a sea-lashed coastline in search of the soul of the evil Lord Voldemort."

D'oh, they said the name. Sorry, everyone. Crazy Scots. But don't book your flights to Scotland just yet, Potter nuts, because there are a few other locations (like New Zealand) that might earn the extra cash.

Oh, and according to the British equivalent to the MPAA, this summer's "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" will clock in at 138 minutes (and 4 seconds).

I think thier cave will need a big lake in it, with an island in the middle.....

Although I dare say thier visual efforts people will just fake it if need be.....

To my understanding pre-production has already started. So they should have the film ready for release by '09 or 2010. Hopefully they'll do what Jackson had done with LOTR and start shooting parts of 7 at the same time, sort to get it all out of the way and to prevent burn-out, which was the reason that Emma Watson (Hermionie) considered not finishing so she could move on to other roles ... but thankfully changed her mind.
Can you imagine any other actor/actresses playing those roles... they got away with Dumbledore (no choice anyway)... but someone else playing Harry, Ron or Hermionie?? Or even Snapes? umm... nope!

Thanks for the info!
With these young people aging so fast- it is more a matter of looking too old for the part. At least the last book is coming out this weekend so they can get the #7 script developed. Unfortunately the book will be delivered to my house while I travel to convention. :driving:

It sounds like they have sea caves in mind. Most Scottish caves in limestone are not very big.

Harry POtter at the convention

Postby Wayne Harrison » Jul 24, 2007 8:23 pm

You wouldn't believe how many convention goers are reading Harry Potter. Even one of the vendors has it out, reading it between customers. Margaret just finished it tonight (we got it Sunday at 11 am while going through Louisville) and while she was reading it at the high school, different cavers came up and mentioned they were reading it, too.

Well not surprising since Rowling endeared herself to cavers by having Harry and Dumbledore find a Horocrux in a cave in book 6! Ok, they weren't exactly caving but hey... for those who read the book wouldn't that be something to explore?
