As the temperature rises this summer, tourists and natives alike are cooling off underground at one of Northwest Oklahoma’s largest tourists attractions.
Alabaster Caverns, which is located just south of Freedom, sees its business rise with the temperature, and is currently experiencing its annual tourist boom as thousands of park visitors venture into the many caverns hoping to catch a glimpse of its three native species of bats and other cave dwelling creatures.
“The summer is a busy time for us,” said Alabaster Caverns historical interpreter Kim Hughes. “Our tourist season begins in March ands run through October”
