LAKE OF THE OZARKS - As the weather heats up, a day at Ozark Caverns and McCubbins Point at the Route A entrance to Lake of the Ozarks State Park may provide a refreshing respite.

At a cool 56 degrees Fahrenheit, the protected cave environment allows visitors to experience the geological and biological processes that helped create the Ozarks.

Caves are common throughout the area due to the thick layers of limestone and dolomite. As water seeps through subterranean cracks in the rock formations, the cracks begin to enlarge into fractures.
