This event is hitting the Texas caving community pretty hard.

Thomas Summers was the son of the owner of Cave without a Name and worked at the cave.

Many of those involved in the rescue are active cavers in Texas.

That, most definitely sucks. Really sad news and my prayers go to the family and friends.

Low ceiling "water-caves" are notoriously dangerous, recall the 4 deaths in Utah under similar circumstances.

Thomas Summers III was 45 years old and is survived by his wife and four children. His father, Tom Summers, is the owner of Cave Without a Name.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to Thomas' wife, his father and especially his children; and, my appreciation goes to all of those involved in the recovery effort.

I probably know most of the rescuers, thanks to the NCRC weeklong outside of Austin. My heart goes out to Thomas' family.
