This interesting video and short article, along with some small articles on the right side should inspire a new system or two for ascending and descending. :rofl:

...at a cost of a £15 return trip.

The ride down is free but you have to pay to get out.

and using water power, pulleys and racks....elevator rides are possible manywheres...........
