Maryland Commercial Cave

Cory is a Tri-State Grotto member, the same grotto as the "local grotto" involved in the dig.

I live in Bedford County Pa and have yet to visit Crystal Grottoes (my fault). Hopefully I will visit the cave this year. Maybe Corey could show us some of the recent discoveries in the cave. I understand the cave is really nice from what Corey says. Something to note. On old Rt 40, now Md Rt 144, just east of the Baltimore Pike Fire Co. near Cumberland Md., is a very old sign on, actually now partially in, a tree advertising Crystal Grottoes. I bet this sign dates back to the 40's at least. I will try to get a picture of it and post it today.

This is the sign along Md Rt 144. It is circa, about 1930-1940's.

How much passage has been found beyond the initial tour?

There's a few thousand feet in the cave. Last time I was there on a dig in July Corey said it something like 3000 feet total. He's been digging out little holes and finding more passage in there.

Ok I'm lost here, just what is a Federal State Park? It's Federal (National) or State....can't be both.
