Here is the article about the two young cavers.

Thanks for Posting this article Phil, it is a very interesting read.
I have been to Valhalla many times and was always under the assumption that the bodies were entombed under the rock.
I'm glad to know that I was wrong and that they had been removed.

I lived in Huntsville then and many of my friends were involved in the recovery.

Thanks for sharing Phil. This is much tamer than Buddy Lane's recount as Chad mentioned.

I forwarded this through the Outdoor Recreation Georgia Tech (ORGT) email list as I believe the two students involved were part of ORGT Caving at the time.

I don't think it is possible to go there and not have it on your mind. That rock is very humbling.

Yes, it is humbling. When we went in after the accident each of us thought of how many times we had stood in that very spot to protect ourselves from falling rocks from the climber above.

There, but for the grace of God.......etc.

Yeah, you want an eye opener on what can happen every time we go underground, ask him about it. Not as a deterrant from caving, but on what happens when the worst happens. He definately gave me a ton of sound advice that weekend and he was very blunt about the consequences of your actions. IMO it was the only way to tell it.
