Old Blowing Cave, AL

On Saturday, Samantha Acton, Alan Cook, Dale Douglas, Kelly French, Jeff Harrod, Dave McRae, Ryan Strickland and myself spent about 4.5 hours bottoming Old Blowing Cave (AL). After obtaining permission from the landowner, he volunteered to drive over and unlock the gate and escort down to the field so we would have the shortest walk. :kewl: We found the cave almost immediately :kewl: , but my memory was vague on the entrance so we sent down an investigate crew. Once confirmed, everyone rappelled into the rather drippy entrance chamber. We found the access hole to the Vertical Crawl and Ryan then found the access hole to the 30 Foot Climb. After that, it was pretty much walking and stooping enjoying this multi-mile cavern. We expected the “Blowing Entrance” to be sumped, and it was. After touring as much as the Bat Passage as we could without having to swim, we headed out. Although we had some scrapes and bruises (Cave Bites), we had a fun trip. :cavingrocks:
