Lehman Lint camp

Postby speloman » Mar 17, 2008 12:52 pm

Hey every one I just returned home from Lehman caves where I participated in a lint removal trip. I learned alot and got to meet some cavers. This was my first lint camp and restoration, and it won't be my last. I am looking forward to doing this again. Pics will be posted soon.

Sorry I missed it. I was able to attend one a while back and ended up doing a bat count in another cave while the rest of the group cleaned lint.

What you did was very important all around. For the cave, for the biota that's in the cave, for the park service that maintains the cave and for the Grotto(s).

Thank you.

It was a great success spelo, having just returned home an hour ago from Lehman due to an extended survey and photo-survey there I can tell you that both the park and the town of baker were very grateful for what was accomplished there in the cave, as for the surveying portion that i was more involved with we were able to capture the entire section of trail slotted for removal on photograph and were able to refine and add to the current survey project there (figure atleast another two years for a completed product.)

same to you. It's funny, the hundreds of hours i've spent within the cave i've never set foot in either the gypsum annex or the Behman passage. I'm sure I could have tagged along in the past but I've always been to busy as were always trying to get as much done on our survey weekends in possible. Just seeing leads like those in a cave as beautiful and rare as Lehman is causes a dilemna that rips at my soul in that one side always wants to push and explore to the utmost of my ability and my more sensible side reminds me that being so rare and Beautiful she (yes Lehman caves is a woman) deserves the utmost respect, sensibility, and protection I can offer her. With that being said I will continue with our survey and see it to its glorious end... until I get lucky enough and land a job somewhere in TAG :)
