Sorry for this little bit of self promotion, but it is the best way of getting this message around.
The Northeast Greenland Caves Project is hoping to take an expedition to Northeast Greenland during the summer of 2015. Our aim, besides exploring the area for new caves, is to sample the cave deposits within them so that we can construct the first record of past climate change from caves in Greenland. The record will be older than the current limit of the Greenland ice cores, and so will be contributing to new knowledge about past climate change in the Arctic. We will be using conservative sampling methods, and patching holes afterwards in order to reduce our impact. Our project is run out of the University of Innsbruck, Austria, but is working closely with the dating lab at the University of Minnesota. We have also received some funding from the NSS in addition to several other organizations.
We are now running a crowd funding campaign to try and raise the remaining funds needed to undertake the expedition. If you are interested in donating to this project, please visit http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/northeast- ... s-project/
where we have a number of rewards on offer. We have tried many different trusts and grant giving bodies, but are starting to run out of options in that respect. We now thought we would try this approach, and see how it goes. The campaign runs until 29th December, and if the full target is not reached, then we receive nothing. Please share/tell/tweet all your friends and colleagues. The more people that know about it, the more it is likely to be successful.
