Any good caves or cliffs in the Nantahala area?

Postby Ch33s3n1p » Jul 28, 2013 8:45 am

I am taking a trip to the Nantahala River next month for kayaking and hiking and I would like to do some caving or vertical work at a 50ft+ cliff. Is there anything good in Southwest N. Carolina? Thanks in advance for any info!

There are caves in the Nantahala Gorge, but they are on Nat. Forest property and are closed because of WNS fears. There are a couple on the quarry property, but they are closed because they will shoot your arms off if you get caught trespassing. So, effectively, no. There are no caves in the Nantahala Gorge. I don't know of any cliffs in the area, but I bet there are some.
