Kelly:
Your info says that Lula Falls is open two Saturdays a month, but their website doesn't mention their open day schedule. They used to post them on their website, but I saw no hint on there this time. Do you know where that info came from, or if it is still accurate? I went there once with the GSS, and it is a really cool place; I wouldn't mind going back sometime.

Stephen, they never update their web site and I don't know why.. But they do have a facebook page that they do update. This is from their facebook page:

"Lula Lake Land Trust The core property that has the lake and falls is always open the first and last Saturday of every month from 9-5, unless the 4th of July or Christmas falls on a Saturday. We had a glorious day last Saturday, and the next ones will be April 27th and May 4th. It is accessed from its southern gate on Lula Lake Road approximately 5 miles south of the intersection of Hwy. 157 and Lula Lake Road in the City of Lookout Mountain Georgia. From Google maps and similar mapping services, use the address 5000 Lula Lake Road Lookout Mountain GA 30750."

There are also a few sandstone caves on the property not far from the waterfall.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the great info.. however we will not be making the trip once again(first time the middle child got chicken pox). This time the oldest boy fell of the monkey bars at school and broke both bones in one forearm and one bone in the other forearm. Hmmm... Third times a charm right..

There is a cave that extends from behind the waterfall under the lake, but it is slymy and slippery.

How about Animal Farm Cave? Is that one still open?

It would be great for a family outing.

You need to ask permission from Mr. Cardin to visit Animal Farm.

Ok.. it would seem plans have changed again.. Not camping due to sons broken arms.. but my wife still want to go to Cornbread festival.. So while they are at CBF my brother in law and I am going to CRCC. So my question now is what caves can we take a 10 year old boy with 2 broken arms to the entrance of that he would enjoy... heres a few Im thinking about.. any input would be great

Martin Springs Cave
Nickajack Cave
Waterworks Cave
Russell Cave

Once again not an ideal caving trip.. but still better then sitting on the couch...

You could easily go to both Waterworks and Russell Cave on the same day. They are fairly close to each other. Also, Waterworks would be more spectacular with the waterfall than seeing Nickajack or Martin Springs.

Kelly, I have been to waterworks to photo the entrance but we did not go in the cave. When I was there in Nov 2011 the entrance area was dry. When it takes in water ,do you need a wet suit or do the drop area's receive water ?? I will likely do it my next time down and would like to know how to dress if the entrance is taking water.
It only takes one person to surrender a dog to a kill shelter ,but it takes many to rescue it.
