Caving locations in Northern Alabama

Postby CoryGraeff » Jan 15, 2013 8:32 pm

Hello, I am looking for more cave locations for AL. Anyone know any beautiful caves around here? I know there are tons, but I have only had the chance to explore 9 of them, and its driving me and my group nuts. I know we can't post exact cave locations or anything like that, but we can get in contact sometime and discuss some?

I wish I could, I have to be a member of the NSS for 2 years, and know people in the ACS that reference me. ._. I'm joining the NSS at my next paycheck, but It's going to be a long 2 year wait. ._.

Join the Huntsville Grotto. There are cave trips every month and one this weekend, I think.

You should consider joining the Huntsville Grotto. I know a lot of great cavers over there. They also lead at least one horizontal and one vertical trip each month.

They meet the first Wednesday of each month and their meetings are at the new NSS Headquarters!

Cory, I suspect you have confused the grotto with the new NSS Office deconstruction/remodeling they are volunteering for. The Huntsville Grotto remains one of the largest and most active grottos in the NSS.

Cory:
I'm not sure why folks are directing you to the Huntsville Grotto, when you didn't specify what part of the state you were in.(Or did I miss that? ) Any local grotto can take you to some awesome caves; just go to the NSS homepage and click on "Find a local caving club," and see what is in your area. Go to meetings, get involved, go on cave trips, and that two years will be over with before you know it. If you don't get invited on a cave trip, ASK! Most grottos will take new folks caving without being asked to; after all, that's really what grottos are for. Our grotto (Gadsden) has some new folks, and we have taken them to several caves in just a month or two. If you are in the area, check us out!

We are also on Facebook, so you can look us up there as well.

I actually live in Huntsville. Which is good for me to join the Huntsville Grotto. I've been to Gadsden a few times, but only to go record my bands EP.
I have been helped by a great community, thank you all. c: All my questions have been answered through PM's. Thank you all again. :3
