I am visiting colorado at the end of sept. i would like to possibly meet up with some people and go splunking. i am a beginner and i dont really want to just go into a cave i dont know alone and unprepared. i also want to make sure im safe. If anyone is interested in meeting up that would be really cool.

Welcome,
If you come through Colorado Springs....PM me and I'll try and hook you up with a trip in Williams Canyon. All caves on USFS lands are closed right now.... so you might plan accordingly.

Hay there caver dan, how are things going? I read your last post, and im not entirely positive that the caves on national forest are still closed. The closure was enacted on the 26th / 27th of july 2010 (date depends on source). Well a year is up, unless you know something I dont :tonguecheek: .

http://www.fs.usda.gov/wps/portal/fsint ... %20Notices

Says one year and has not been updated since the closure has allegedly ended.

Let me know :big grin:

Brian,
You must dig deeper into their web site. Note the date the new order was signed.

I know the canyon is calling! I hear it, I do! Problem is that I have been for the most part working out of cleveland. I got a job out there as a first officer flying for a regional airline. Still live in CR though.

I finally found the second order. BS IMHO! Still think they should update their site to reflect the new changes. My prediction for July 27 2012: another year long extension.
