BREAKING NEWS! On Saturday May 14th Dave Everton and the Indiana Speleological Survey (as featured in NSS News in Feb and March 2011) established and surveyed a connection between Guy Stover Pit cave and Binkley cave near Corydon Indiana (via a 200' tight muddy miserable waterfilled low airspace bellycrawl). This adds roughly a mile to Binkley, which is now over 26 miles in total surveyed passage. What may be more important is much quicker (although not necessarily easier) access to the furthest reaches of Binkley, which previously was an 8 hour round trip not including time spent working leads or survey. Now that this area of Binkley is more accessable, the long sought after connection to nearby Blowing Hole cave may be one step closer to reality. Joy was on the connection trip.....

Joy also had a quite memorable experience which involved a big gulp of water in about 4 inches of airspace. Glad that in this case, all's well that ends well! The passage is now referred to as "Joy's Gulp"

LOL yeah I heard about that - I've caved with her a few times and we're friends on fb, she mentioned it xD aww poor Joy. She has a collection of great cave stories though, I love talking to her!

<3 you all! I'm so excited for you!!!!!!!!!!! I really do need to get my arse down there and learn how to survey some weekend. Joy needs to tell me when she's going so I can carpool down with her! Anyone from Elkhart area going I can make it there to carpool down. Maybe weekend after Speleofest before SERA or something...ah I should email Dave. Unless you are he. I dunno who "2.0" is haha. Although I read in the report it's more laying in cold water surveying...which no wetsuit so I can't help with that.

This little cave is a butt whooper. It makes you work hard for every inch of it. We were only a few hundred feet from all the action starting a clean up of the pit. Trying to make the entrance a little safer. I bet it was nice not having a bone and trash shower on the way out. I can't beleive how many bones and glass is in there. We had left to head home and we got the call from Tim, You should have seen my happy dance.
