PUTNAM COUNTY -- It was apparently an adventure trip by six young Mt. Juliet men late Friday night, and it ended in a serious "adventure."

That adventure occurred in rural Putnam County when one of the group fell some 75 feet down into a cave.

The rescue of Jeremy Boon, 20, began around 4 a.m. Saturday and took several hours, officials said. He suffered leg and head injuries and was complaining of abdominal pain when rescuers reached him, according to Putnam Emergency Management Agency Director Tyler Smith.

It happened just off Highway 70 in the area of Sheep Bluff Road, according to a report by Putnam Sheriff's Deputy Sonny Farley.

Lucky to have survived at all. A two people were killed (separate incidents) in Bloomington Cave falling down a slanted floor which reaches a length of over 100 feet. Glad he survived his fall. Still must've been a nasty tumble.

I did too, and there are caves in Putnam County, IN. However, I realized it couldn't have been any of those caves when they said it was a 75 foot fall.

Yeah, thats what threw me off. If there was a 75 ft pit there, I want to check it out!!!

So much energy being put into where this cave is located, when if you read the top line of the newspaper it indicated "Tennessee." And, if you know there aren't any 75 foot pits, then...look for all the clues.

hello all, i was just looking on line about some caves and i found this. i am the deputy that help rescue the man from mt. juliet. i saw you have some questions. the cave is in tennessee county:putnam city: cookeville and its not hard to find if you know what your looking for. oh yeah the above toppo is right.

The arrow on the topo looks a bit off to me. Unless a new pit has been found in that exact location.
