No no no no no... it's No more HELPING people out on cave trips... if someone on your trip falls just leave them there and go out into cell phone range and call 911 and leave it at that...
It means any Spelunkers found are to be left exactly where they are however they are... yep that's the way to do it... cover your arse and look out ONLY for yourself!! Yep.

It's a brave new world.

Alright guys I figured it out. Just call me to go caving with you and your worries are over. You will have a Paramedic in cave with you. Hmm! Georgia licensed any way, thats another topic, practicing medicine w/o license :argue: Better stay on the Georgia side of the mountain! :cavingrocks:

Hmm, are there any caves that cross state lines? So if we go caving with you, we just have to make sure we get injured in the right place. :bananabat:

Knowing there is a paramedic along is great for any cave trip. I used to go caving with a nurse practitioner and knew that if I got hurt I'm taken care of... but now if SHE got hurt well... hopefully she'll be coherent enough to tell me what to do...
But I've enough emergency first aid at least under my belt to handle minor stuff.... dunno about setting broken limbs but can splint them though... heh :big grin: But if they're THAT bad off... better call 911

so I don't get sued

Well how do you propose to know that... lay down a strip of flagging tape where the state line is above you?

If someone needed assistance in an accident, I would be glad to help them no matter where they are. Yes there are a lot of legalities involved but as long I stayed within my scope of practice, all I would have to do is go with the patient to the hospital if I did anything more than basic first aid. Most of the time the ambulance crew that picks the pt up will assume care and document that prehospital care was provided prior to their arrival and tell what was done. If someone were in a life threatening situation and I did not help them just because I am not licensed in that state, it would be ethically and morally wrong which can get you sued faster than anything.

As long as anyone providing care stays within their level of training if they have any, and doesn't do anything to cause further injury to the pt, they have nothing to worry about.

I'm going caving, dangerous or not!

But on the offhand chance that I might get hurt, I am only going to go with rich people :big grin:
