The packet was presented online. The link should be in the email from Jo,
and I don't have it handy else I'd IM it. I am not sure if Becky was going to
be sending something additional to the L3s.

Just a reminder: don't forget the "textbook" that you were given in Stage 1 or 2. It is required and if you forget it, you will be required to buy one at the course. This is from the "welcome letter packet" from Jo Ellen.

I did the knot pass thing in the tree last night...getting really smooth. Hope I don't choke during testing!

It's always a good chance to work out the kinks from a long drive and make sure there are no issues with your technique.

Yeah, it's the binder with all the NCRC docs.

No, but I had received an earlier email from Jo Ellen confirming that she got my registration electronically and did secure a slot in Level 3. I just emailed her again or maybe one of you guys can forward me the attachment.

Yes again there will be a Friday night vertical workshop.

Since there's a stronger focus on SRT skills this year (you'll see changes in the curriculum, though I think mostly at the Level 1 stage) I highly recommend anyone who isn't completely comfortable with their skills to attend.

And yes, as others have noted the 3-ring binder is the book. We're attempting to print out less duplicate information this year, so that means w/o the book you may be lost in the classroom. (There's a lot of duplication between some of the class handouts and the book so we're trying to reduce that and save paper.)

I'm planning on arriving early afternoon Friday. I definitely want to participate in the SRT workshop on Friday night. I feel my SRT skills are just fine, I happen to love geeking about on rope whenever I get the chance though.

Plus, it's fun to eyeball other caver's rigs and see what they are using. One of the simplest rigs I laid eyes on was one used by Martin Davis during the checkoffs for the 2006 BCCR bootcamp on Vancouver Island. I posted a pic of it on the online photos. Just a seat, two ascenders, some webbing and sling rope and a descender.

Now, I just need to make it through a few more days of walk-in clinic...

Thanks for posting the link. That looks to me like one of the typical British-style frog rigs, also sometimes seem on Canadians, New Zealanders, etc.

I used a chest harness like that for many years, before I learned about real frog chest harnesses which actually provide some support for your back. (Not to rag on those who love looking like Igor wear those simple webbing loops or anything.) But I have to admit those basic webbing loops are simple, cheap and they work so more power to those who still use them. My cowstail/footloop setup was once similar to that photo as well, however I think there are some distinct advantages in being able to easily separate your upper ascender, cowstails and footloop from each other if necessary. But to each their own. As long as it's safe and it works, that's probably good enough for most people.

I should probably get on rope Friday night too. It's been a while, so I might be a little rusty.
