Very good info Bill. Hopefully many cavers will learn from this tragedy.

It's interesting that you mention feeding rope may have contributed to the accicent. I have noticed that feeding rope is often a factor with rappelling accidents. I think there are lots of cavers out there that do not respect or understand the potential dangers of feeding rope. Hmmm, might be time for a new thread...
