A man was hospitalized Tuesday night after a caving accident in the Kensington area of Walker County (Georgia).

According to Walker County Coordinator David Ashburn, a 26-year old man from Atlanta was exploring Anderson’s Spring Cave with two friends and had to be rescued by Walker County Fire and Rescue.

Traci Napier-Reece, administrative assistant for Walker County Fire and Rescue, said the man was some 1,500 feet inside the cave when he broke his leg.

“The individual was using a rock as a climbing aid when it dislodged and broke his leg,” said Napier-Reece.
