DJ Walker (Level 1 Lead Instructor at the 2006 SE Regional) is coordinating the TX Regional! I'm sure you will see many familiar faces in the Instructor pool such as: Rod Dennison, Monty Strange, Becky Jones, Patrick Lynott and Heath Haddock to just name a few. (you might even see me and Berta there)

All reports that I have heard, heap praise on the Regionals that have been conducted at this site by these guys in the past. A very quality class, IMHO.

Scott- you know that had been my thought too, to complete both levels before I left the states- funny thing is, I'll be in San Antonio at the same dates, but tied up with other training. If you go, give my hellos to the group from this summer - I'll be back up that way for 2 months in mar-may and hope to catch some caving. Otherwise, hope to see you again at national.

WOW! :kewl: I could drive to this one!

Price is cheaper than Virginia, then I could take level 2 if I go to VA but not as likely if I get this course this year.

Still planning on going to Convention...

Plus, I can have Becky J. give me hell about my "gear addiction."

Cheers,

hey - can't go to texas regional, 'cause I'll be in training at ft sam at the same time. last day of training ends saturday - any of you going to NCRC interested in caving sunday (Scott, caverdoc, you guys gonna make it?) let me know, and I'll take a day or two of leave if I can make firm plans b4 uncle sam buys my ticket. I'll be dropping a line to the texans from this past summers SE as well. otherwise, I'll be back out there 19 Mar-18 May and will definitely be caving then, but will miss you non-local folks.

Kelly
I'm still working out the plan for attending. I'm transitioning between jobs and it should slot nicely into some planned down time.
I haven't caved in Texas...yet!
Have fun at Ft.Sam, watch out for those 18D's though!

Doesn't look like this NCRC is going to be do-able for me. With my present job transition and having come off a 1900 mile road trip recently, I'm sticking closer to home.
I'm saving up for Convention, though. That's only an 8 hour drive on great interstate roads from home!

Holy cow. I just saw this now. I've got vacation time to burn off by March 31. I do believe I could go to Texas.

I'm not going to make this one either. Family vacation plans are conflicting. Unless, I can find a good, cheap babysitter for the week. Anyone?

Go for it!

Great bunch of instructors.

Rule #1: If the Alamo is present, do NOT under any circumstances fall asleep there.

Rule #2: Refer to rule #1.

I can confirm that caverdoc made it there, as did I. Wow, does the desert get cold at night in winter. 18 degrees!

TX NCRC

Sean, you did a great job at the Texas shindig. Hope to see ya at future NCRC events.
The instructors were top notch! I really enjoyed learning "the NCRC way" how to rig hauling/lowering/patient packaging systems. We had 11 Level 1's (Including Sean and I) and 4 Level 2's. The final rescue was pretty intense, especially the speed at which DJ ("patient") was moved from where he was found to the pit in the cave. Whew!
One of the more amazing movements was unpackaging Sean in a 14" high passage. Not my idea of a great time, but educational.
I've been looking at the photo CD too, great pics!
