Note that's accidents and rescues. Many accidents result in self-rescue (the "best" kind :-) and there's a number of accidents that don't make the ACA. Which is a shame. I suspect many people don't report out of embarrassment or because they don't know about the ACA.

What's interesting is the regional variation in both frequency and type of rescues.

Finally, I'll put a plug in forNCRC Cave Rescue.

Well worth it. If you can't make or afford the weeklong, find a 2-day Orientation to Cave Rescue near you. Even if you never plan on rescuing people, it will make you a safer caver.
