Joking aside, this is a big part of why I got into cave rescue. I figured if *I* needed rescue I'd want trained folks on the other side. So it was only fair to get training in case someone ELSE needed rescue.

Bill, Tony, others...

Bonny and I will be hanging out with Karel and his family in San Juan Thursday afternoon-evening. Give us a call if you want to get together for dinner, drinks, etc.

My mind is already there. (Don't tell my boss...)

Way to go Colorado! Looking at the cave trip lists I was already thinking, damn there's a lot of people from Colorado going to PR this time! When I did my Level 1 there in 2006, there were only five of us gringos in a class of 30. I think the mainland is gonna represent a lot stronger this time.

Dan, don't worry we'll take good care of LP for ya. I see she is going to Ventosa-Tres Pueblos on Friday with Bonny and lots of other good people. I did that through trip, and it still ranks in my top ten favorite cave trips ever. Just amazing.

I've decided to rent a car for overall general convenience, flexibility, and mobility. I plan to spend Thursday afternoon and evening in San Juan and would love to rendezvous with other cavers for dinner etc. I will be glad to give a lift to anyone arriving around 4pm at SJU. May go to Old San Juan or El Moro or other touristy and fun stuff before dinner. Or hang out at the beach. Or whatever... as long as there is rum involved.

Well it was a great mock. And I got a ride to and from the airport. (slept in the airport overnight and flying out in 75 minutes).

Learned a new ICS term... no longer team members but "my peeps" :-)

Oh and Tony if you're reading this, what are the five functions of ICS? :woohoo:

F irst off, I wanted to say I had a fantastic time at NCRC in PR. The locals were especially friendly and patient with my butchering of the
L anguage. We were able to visit at least five caves during the week and I was especially pleased with the fact that the Mock rescue included some
O utstanding rigging problems. I saw at least three seperate 3:1 haul systems in cave. (By comparison last year at Tumbling Rock we mostly used Georgia Hauls.)
P erhaps next year’s Mock in Mentone next year will utilize more complex hauling obstacles.
I n closing, I think my wife and I had a fantastic time and really enjoyed working with our counterparts in PR.

How's that Greg?

Oh and watch it, we may have a "solution" next year to the issue of "lots of rigging".

I had a great time, too, but I am still pissed that I could not find any Barrilito to bring home with me.

Bill, I hate to bring this up now that you are home, but the duty-free shop in the San Juan airport has Barrilito 3 star for $21 - no limit. I got four, but had to give up one to our good friend for picking us up at SLC airport at 2am. The remaining three will be treasured.

I looked for the Barrilito at the airport, but the DF shop by my gate did not have it. Damn.

We'll get Karel to bring up a mega-shipment to Mentone next year. That sounds easier than racing to the Fort Payne liquor store before 9pm anyway.

Well, you know, the cache and the truck it's in still have to get BACK to the mainland.

Just saying.

I want to go back to PR. I have been in trouble ever since I got home. The NSS sucks. Life sucks. Puerto Rico did not suck. Can I go back now?
