Two Men Rescued After Falling in a Cave on Monteagle Mountain

A party on Ladds Cove Road in Marion County turns into a cave rescue over the weekend. According to Sequatchie Valley News.com dot com after a noise complaint, those involved in the party took off. Authorities caught and arrested three of them, but two others ran up to the foot of Monteagle Mountain and fell in a cave.

Sequatchie Valley News.com identifies them as 20-year old Zach Holland and 18-year old Matt White. Rescue crews spent roughly five hours getting them out of the cave.

That pretty much sums it up. The pit that they went into was 45 feet deep according to the TCS listing.

The more seriously injuried patient was smashed up pretty bad. His recovery will take a while. The second person wasn't as injuried in the fall. Apparently, he was able to send a text message after they fell into the pit to alert his friends where he was. There is a cell tower located on the ridge above the pit.
