great news, there was a news story on yahoo showcasing the connection of two major systems in the yucatan, additionally they both site the NSS in the story itself and give a link afterwards

With more of their typical hard work, there will likely be a connection through to Sistema Dos Ojos which lies just north of the current cave system limit. Then, the cave would jump to ~#4 position of long caves in the world (all caves - not just underwater), up from its current #9 position.

I think it is all very exciting - notably for the implications for land use, and water and waste management in this area of Mexico that is being developed at a phenomenal rate.
