That is being done almost routinely now. I do it, and I have seen other exploration teams doing the same thing. It also works well for the second diver to do the filming. Your term "rigging" we call "laying line".

Most of mine are pretty boring, due to low viz. Here are a few good ones online:

I have been meaning to get on here and update you guys for about two weeks now. The dive went off without a hitch. Smooth sailing. They also found an estimated 1400 to 1500 more feet of virgin passage. I know it is not what cave DIVERS dream of but dry passage is what I really wanted. The first sump was about 75 feet and they emerged into 300 to 400 feet of easy walking passage. At that end of that passage was another sump which was only about 50 feet. When they emerged from it they came out into approximately 1000 feet of passage that they described as way more complex than the front part of the cave. There was also a very pretty waterfall. In order to keep to the strict schedule we had agreed upon they had to turn around on a low crawl with lots of water flow and come back so we wouldn't start calling in help. In short, its basically everything I hoped for except that I will likely never see it myself. They are returning on the 28th and 29th with a 4 man team including a videographer to sketch, survey, and push where they had to turn around on the first trip... Needless to say this is all I have thought, talked, and dreamed about since that day and I can't wait to get back in and carry all the stuff back next Friday and Saturday. I will try to post some pictues later. Most of them are pretty low quality as they are snapshots from a go pro video, but you can at least get the idea. Hopefully they get some really good video this next trip with their actual video equipment.

Here is a really low quality video capture of a small waterfall beyond the second sump. Hopefully this second dive yields some better quality pictures. Its still really cool though.

Here is the group photo at the gate and also a picture of my wife, myself, and another sherpa/friend Dustin waiting on the divers to get geared up at the sump.
