A great loss - Tom Crockett

Postby Grandpa Caver » Jun 29, 2009 4:15 pm

It is with great sorrow I announce the passing of Tom Crockett, owner of the garbage Pit entrance to Sloans Valley Cave in Kentucky. He has been a long time friend to all cavers and a personal friend to many, including myself.

Here is (in part) the message I received from John Cole on saturday...

"I greatly regret to inform everyone that Tom Crockett passed away a little under an hour ago. He was found in his room (in the Louisville rehabilitation facility where he'd been recently moved) not breathing and unresponsive. Attempts to revive him proved unsuccessful."

Tom had been in the hospital for several weeks and I was told his condition seemed to be improving.

My condolances to his family. He will be sorely missed.
