Colleen Dawn O’Connor Olson of Cave City, Kentucky passed away in her home on September 14, 2018, at mid-day. She was surrounded by family and left us without the terrible pain and anxiety that might have been possible. She is survived by her husband Rick Olson of Cave City and her sister Heather Barker of Seattle, WA. Colleen worked at Grand Canyon for the Fred Harvey Company and then for the Mammoth Cave Hotel starting in 1992. In 1993, Colleen became an Interpretive Ranger at Mammoth Cave National Park and served in that capacity for 25 years until her retirement earlier this year. She was a prolific writer and published five books on different aspects of Mammoth Cave plus writing the history chapter for a compendium book on Mammoth Cave. There will be a celebration of Colleen’s life next summer at the Mammoth Cave Hotel.
