Passing of Brother Nicholas Sullivan, FSC

Postby submassabielle » Nov 12, 2014 11:06 pm

A past NSS president (May 1957-June 1961) passed away on October 4th. I just ran across this and don't recall seeing anything here or in the obituaries of NSS News.

Oh man. Thanks for posting. He was someone special. And he certainly led a long and full life.

Brother Nicholas had done a lot of work in my area up through the 80's. He was a great guy. I am still trying to locate some of the caves he never officially recorded like Cumberland Bone Cave #2. He even come out in the late 70's and early 80's to check out some of my finds. He is legendary around these parts. I have never heard a bad work spoken of him. Truly a great man.

A picture of Brother Nicholas at "work".

What cave is Brother Nicholas entering in this photo?

Ryan, that is a good question. From my conversations with John Manley, who caved with Brother Nicholas back in the day, he thought it was near Harper's Ferry.
