Longtime Caver Passed Away

Postby cavetopia » Sep 30, 2014 3:08 pm

I received some bad news today. Longtime caver Karl Mayne (NSS 37985) has passed away. He was hiking with his daughter Karla Mayne (NSS 37999).
They were in Canyonlands National park. They were heading for Horseshoe Canyon to view and photograph rock art. He collapsed during the hike.

This is preliminary information.
It is my understanding that Karla is on her way back to Colorado and that there probably won’t be any arrangements made until next week.

Sorry to hear. I hope I can go like that at an old age. Go doing the things I love in the element I love. RIP caver.
