What is your feeling regarding the USFWS March 26th Moratoria on Caving?

I love it, our little furry friends need our help and no sacrifice is too great

Actually,

At least in IN we did sample some caves that were essentially non bat caves and some areas without bat droppings. This was a deviation from the ideal situation but :shrug: The USFWS sampled several of the major hibernacula covering that base and we weren't keen on entering other major sites in midwinter since they were not geographically distant from at least one of the USFWS sites. All of the caves we sampled either had some bats or a history of having some bats. Numbers of observed bats ranged from over 100 to zero depending on the cave but only 2 contained more than scattered individuals. In one case, a previous "bat hole" had been sealed and no bats were found in the cave. We focused on caves geographically spread around the state and those listed as being visited by NE cavers which included 2 show caves. We'll see.

Not looking good for caver acceptance of the USFWS language...
I'm not scared of the dark, it's the things IN the dark that make me nervous. :)
