The gist is: they found a single infected bat during a bat survey this January. The state plans to keep the cave open for the tour season after implementing visitor precautions similar to those at Mammoth Cave National Park.

Thanks, Teresa. The press release doesn't mention the species of the bat. Any info on that?

Also, if the Mammoth Cave biomats aren't effective, what will Onondaga do - Lysol IC spray and 10-minute soak, then wipe of everyone's shoes?

Teresa just passed on confirmation from MO DNR - the bat was a female Little Brown (Myotis lucifugus). Thank you.
