My understanding is that the mats were removed because the chemical involved (Lysol IC) was determined by another federal agency to be an "off label" use of a pesticide. Soles of shoes are considered "porous," and thus not appropriate for treatment by Lysol IC under FIFRA (the Federal Insecticide, Fundgicide, and Rodenticide Act).
