Check out that cover on Number 12.

I remember Cheryl Jones was looking for cover art, so I gave her some!

Ah, if only I knew then what I do now....

Wow, Jay, I'd forgotten that you'd jumped in to rescue me and the NH! :kewl:

I'd also forgotten about that fiery editorial. Whew! Look out! :yikes:

But I do remember the hours it took to put out newsletters back in then -- typewriter, no spell check, Lettreset (sp?) rub on lettering, cutting and pasting sections of text and diagrams onto that blue line graph paper. Aaaagggg! You can have "the good ol' days"!

Ah, if only I knew then what I do now....

All of the above! Ha! :woohoo: You know, every time I eat cream cheese on crackers (which isn't very often) I think about that trip with you and Don to Fool's Face when we came upon the car wreck on the way home. I remember eating cream cheese with chives on the ride back to Tech.

Reading those early NH's is fascinating! Some years back I bought an entire set of back issues. It's a great journey through the evolution of American vertical caving. Every vertical caver should at least skim through the issues.

Cave hard, stay safe!

NYLON HIGHWAY NO. 50 – 2005

Postby Tim White » Jan 6, 2006 9:03 am

The articles for and cover art for NYLON HIGHWAY NO. 50 – 2005 are with the webmaster Gary Bush, waiting for him to get them posted on-line.
This was a lean year for articles. :hairpull: As the year was drawing to a close I was able to dig up a few nuggets that will be of interest to the vertical caver.

But for Issue NO. 51 – 2006, I already have some great research papers from Marc Beverly and Stephen Attaway ready to publish! 2006 will see some outstanding reading in the Nylon Highway. :kewl:

If you are not a member of the Vertical Section, go to: http://www.caves.org/section/vertical/mbrsh.html
For just $3.00 you can join and get electronic access to the current issues of the Nylon Highway.
Be safe,

Wow. That is fun reading and really brings back memories.

I particularly liked re-reading Don's article on the Davison System. I built one back then (1974) and still use it today although mostly for climbing masts and then descending.

Yep. My system is 31 years old and still in pretty good shape. Can't quite say the same for me, but... :)
