How stretchy is the Beal Antipodes, compared to the others?

If you'd clicked on the link in my previous post, you'd know.

To save you the effort, the answer is 3% under a load of between 50 and 150kg. Those who prefer their nice stiff ropes with only 1-2% stretch would probably find it a little too bouncy, especially in deep unrebelayed pits.

Full specs of the Beal Antipodes 10.5mm:

• DIAMETER - 10,3
• STATIC STRENGTH - 2700 daN (kg)
• STRENGTH WITH FIGURE 8 KNOT - 1950 daN (kg)
• NUMBER OF FACTOR 1 FALLS - 16 (100 kg)
• IMPACT FORCE FACTOR 0.3 - 5.10 kN
• ELONGATION 50/150KG - 3,0 %
• SHEATH SLIPPAGE - 0,8 %
• WEIGHT PER METER - 65 g
• SHEATH PERCENTAGE - 38 %
• WEIGHT OF THE CORE - 62 %
• SHRINKAGE IN WATER - 5 %
• MATERIAL - Polyamid (PA)

I really like the PMI 11mm pit rope. Sure it's stiff but that also makes it easy to feed when ascending and very predictable when rappelling. With our Stop bobbins, they really do act as stops instead of slows which is very nice. I have a 200' length and a 300' length and I love how low stretch it is for ascending, even near the end of the 300' line.

I guess that Edelrid Everdry Superstatic 9 mm is a pretty good all-round rope . . . though I must admit we have a 100 m length of 10.5 mm rope for long drops where 9 mm starts to look a bit like washing line!

11mm Talon for me. I swear by the stuff.

10mm works fine too, but I tend to be a little rough on my ropes so I went with 11mm.
