Fuzzy-hair man, this might be what you were asking about

Hey there! Look at this link and scroll down to No. 5 and see if this is what you wanted to find out about.

http://rescuesystemsinc.com/cart2/asp/p ... Carabiners

As far as your racks, there are the standard ones and the one with a 90 degree twist in them, which makes it easier to keep your bars in an upright position.

Let me know if you find any with a 360 degree twist... right now I'm using two 180 degree 'biners in series and would like to "simplify" my setup!

Oops! Guess I meant a 90 deg.. Drrrrrr.

Not quite a contribution to the topic of this thread, but out of curiosity: Where did you get your Allp? I recently tried to buy one. The only folks selling them that I found are in the UK, http://www.sarsupplies.co.uk, and they have not been very responsive to my emails...

Got mine on ebay, mine is not one of the new fangled ones with the stop handle (Troll Allp Pro) but only has the screw to vary friction. AFAIK the older Troll Allps aren't made anymore so I imagine you can't get them new. The new Troll Allp Pros look very nice though if only they were a bit cheaper.

Fallright make a descender pretty similar to my Allp though. http://www.fallright.com/store/product.asp?ID=610

There are a few places on the web that list the Troll Allp Pro so perhaps try another?

Cool, I didn't realize that, thanks. I asked them for a quote. I'm really just looking for a convenient way to set up a treadmill.

Thanks for the list, will check into it!

FYI - in my experience, Troll Allps work great for treadmills.

Like FHM, I also found mine on eBay (brand new and cheap). Lucky find, I guess. I have a second one, a slightly different version and still brand new, but I'm holding onto it for now - sorry.

Happy hunting!

NZCaver beat you to it I'm afraid, but :thanks: he posted the same link earlier on in the thread, problem is none of these Stubai crabs aren't imported to Australia so perhaps I'll have to put in another overseas order.... perhaps once I have more items on my wish list

I have found something that'll do the job (twisted shackle) but I'm a little concerned because it's not a CE or rated item so I'm not sure how it's rated or what the tolerances are etc... but hey there's a climbing gym near here that uses similar for their floor anchors.

It's something like this one with a maximum breaking strength of 54kN I don't think I'm gonna break it but I still get concerned using non climbing rated stuff: (I'm not sure but I think the lower load value might be a deformation load)
http://ronstan.thomasnet.com/item/stainless-steel-rigging-hardware/stainless-steel-shackles/rf631?&seo=110

The other thing that I'm not sure about is the way these do up ie the pin and how vulnerable to being knocked loose it might be, but if I loctite it up I shouldn' be able to come undone.

I asked them for a quote, and got $350 as reply.

Didn't try these.

Originally, I entered an online order at http://www.sarsupplies.co.uk/shop/shop. ... 4310637a7c for one, but the credit card processing stuff looked funky and like it did not went through. So I sent them an email. And never got a reply. But about three weeks later I had my Allp in the mail.

I contacted them about a quote after thinking that the link above (MFC supplies) didn't work out, and got back a very friendly reply telling me that they had forwarded my request to the Allp's developer for connecting me with a local dealer.

Dave Allport indeed replied and referred me to Smithfield in New Orleans, quoting an email address that bounced. Didn't try the phone number.

Dave said he didn't mind his contact info posted here, so here goes: dave at sar-products.com

Damn, that's a lot of money!

I won't tell you how much I paid for each of my Allps... it might make you cry.

Welcome to the forum :waving: and thanks for the contact information.

I now own 3 of your father's designs, two regular Allps and a Pro Allp. Nice toys.
