Some of the earliest reported pit depths for Tennessee were measured from the lip of the sinkhole, down the slope to the top of the pit, then down the pit.

These are mostly pre-1960 measurements. They give you total depth from "ground level". Not what we would consider a true pit depth today.

you can't see the top of the (dome) with any light, not even an HID. Blackness. And the pit is located on a major fault. We are surveying right now and will have access to a disto at some point, then we'll measure the pit from top to bottom at some 400'+ just to keep ya'll happy.
So would this possibly be the 700ft. pit I have been looking for??? There might be a passage at the top of the dome, and if you can't even see that far...what about other pits along this fault line? Sounds extremely interesting to me :caver: :patriotic2:
Yuppie Boating= new entrance into DKSH. On Brady. E Hannah worked this one. Rumor has it they found a deep pit with possibilities for higher rig point. The mountain does have depth potential. Not trying to be cryptic, I think the area is closed to caving.
