joining ropes

Postby kip » May 29, 2007 7:02 am

I think I banged this on a while ago but here's it again.

Single sheetbend with fishermans loop the smallest to pass and the easiest to undo and easy to clip on the way by.

Figure on the bight with rethread (dang close to a frost knot) super good with group work as very secure and easy to untie though bulky to pass so it makes them use good technique. Again has an easy clip in and this makes for a tidier option than a figure bend with a figure on the bight hanging off it. This i think would work fine as an overhand to join the ropes as it would have less bulk, i haven't really tried it under load for ease of untying.

Now go and get knotted

Void (n) voyd
1. the state of non existence
2. an empty area or space
Question: do caves really exist then?

Why would one orient the Sheetbend such that loading the tied-off ends
is essentially hanging on a ring-loaded Bowline? --i.e., the presented knot
is UPSIDE-DOWN ! (And, given figurings above re Fig.8 vs. Grapevine,
I don't see how the Frosty Fig.8 bend-loopknot is practically bulkier than
this Grapevined SheetBowline?) (Swap out the Grapevine for Rosendahl's
Zeppelin bend.)
