What is the strangest ascending system you have seen used?

How do you/they raise the lower (handled) ascender? clamping it between your feet ? or was there a bungee setup? If you clamp it with your feet I can't imagine the rope runs through it too well.

There was a little piece of accessory cord tied to either end of the carriage bolt and run through the clip hole at the top of the ascender, so the ascender would just come right up when the feet were lifted.
