Does it lose its tensile *strength*, ... and never hard numbers specifying dry and wet tensile strengths.

!? These should be pretty easy to find, if you look for nylon ropes in
general, perhaps, and not specifically kernmantle rope. The general
loss is from 10-15%. Cf. e.g. Clyde Soles's Outdoor Knots(Mountaineers):
Compared to other synthetic fibers, nylon absorbs a great deal of water
--up to 8% of its weight for nylon 66 [more likely for "static" rope] and
9.5% for nylon 6 at saturation. The water swells the nylon molecule,
which reduces strength by as much as 25% (10 to 12% is more typical).
Testing of wet dynamic climbing ropes yields the same results as those
of a dry rope heated to about 160^F(71^C).

The effects of water on strength are temporary with the wetness.
