I won't argue the claim that two wraps is often enough, but my goodness, doesn't the Incorrect!!! caption for a perfectly fine rig seem a bit overdramatic? And the "terrible waste of resources"... Boy. That extra 2 seconds and four feet of rope used. What a tragedy.

You misunderstood the reason for the "Incorrect!" label: it's that the loaded rope rubs against the coils due to wrap-down technique. Wrap up is the "Correct!" technique.

Is that enough for a new cartoon? Please?

I see. Why has no one ever told me this? Why didn't Smith put that in the caption? You mean I've been doing it right completely by accident this entire time?
Cartoon? Let me think...

Go right ahead.

Hey, since other NSS sections (Illuminations, Spelean History, etc.) send me newsletters to review for the Underground Update, does that mean y'all should be sending me Nylon Highway for free? :big grin: If you're already sending a copy to the NSS library you could send it via the News Correspondent (that's what it says on some of my mail. Makes me feel glamorous).
