The reason I ask is because last weekend I dropped my bag on someone below me just after I passed a rebelay. I was thinking I should replace all my non-locking with locking and I was wondering if there was any merit for using non-locking at all.

One thing that comes to mind is ropework in the Millitary. I was in the Marines. They don't use locking carabiners for crap. I'm suprised there isn't a pile of dead infantrymen at the bottom of a rope somewhere.

I had someone drop something near me when they were passing a lip. Theirs was on a locking biner and they had intentionally undone the lock because they thought they needed to move the biner. Locking biners only help things from coming undone on their own.
