Yes, same company, but different rack-this one is (supposedly) stainless steel.

Make sure you let Petzl know that!

Good point- I have never noticed that Petzl makes theirs like that. I guess I don't see many in use around here- most folks use SMC with welded eyes.

On a positive note about the rack, the Zinc from those rack bars may automatically disinfect your rope for WNS as you rappel down it...

NZ, where did you find your stainless bobbins? Most of the sites I just looked at that sell replacements don't give an option, or don't tell you what material they are made of. I didn't realize that you could buy stainless replacement parts.

I'm pretty sure the standard lower bobbin in a STOP is SS, and the upper is Alu, while both are Alu in the SIMPLE, AFAIK.

Both the bobbins on my Simple are alum. I've still got a rotation on them, but I might replace them with SS if that were and option when the time came.

Correct. Just the lower on the Stop is SS. I don't think you can buy SS replacement bollards for the Simple, but you could probably make some if you have a machine shop. For what it's worth, both bollards (and the side plates) on my Australian SRTE Stop are SS, and the bollards on my Troll Pro Allp are too. But those are much heavier than the Stop and the Simple.

I am certainly glad someone gave me my mini-rack back in 1973!
