Lol..I can't even use the "it was late when I posted" excuse. It was only 10:00. No sense in trying to make an excuse for that one, it did make me laugh though...I would like to see the upside down rack and a jet pack. Seems like it could be done even faster then...

The essence: Most heat goes into bending and twisting the rope fibers, not friction with the device.

no.......

most heat is generated by bending and twisting and stretching the rope fibers........and the rest generated by friction between the device and rope surface in contact with the device.....

the question i have is which source results in the control we all get from our rappels?.........how much of the heat generated by stretch, bend, twist and deformation :woohoo: have to do with control.......and how much more of our desired control do we "owe" to the resultant friction generated by the interface between the rope surface in contact and our rappel device......

get over its heavier weight......get a 6 bar rack...... :cavingrocks:
