Rappel Videos

Postby Wm Shrewsbury » Mar 26, 2006 10:23 am

Does anyone have or can send me a link to some rappelling video? I need to use it as part of a research project presentation (which I'm giving before the paper is done!) Looking for anything that shows longer drops, preferably, but will gladly use up close footage to show the classroom what rappelling is.

It will be used in a powerpoint presentation, but I can use about any format (mpeg, avi, mov, etc.). Thanks!

Wm,

I can't point to anything specifically. Don't know of anything. But you could try searching Google Video and YouTube.com. Try searching with the many possible misspellings of 'rappelling' or 'rappel' or 'descent', etc. You could also look around on Speleonet, there are a bunch of caving videos posted there.

Good Luck!

Why not just borrow a digital camera, go out and make one?

Can I assume you already asked Bruce? I would have thought he would have something from one of his many classes.
Hope your travels are rewarding - tell Carolina I said "Hi"

Wm,
The El Cap 2004 video titled "To The Edge" has lots of excellent long drop rappel footage including my helmet cam footage of Gordon Birkhimer and I on a 2650' tandem rappel. It is available from XTR.... contact Mike Phelps or Tood Handley to purchase a copy.
See ya on a long rope soon friend
