Can someone recommend a fragile, expensive rope?

Postby Jeff Bartlett » Nov 2, 2011 9:31 pm

I'd like to know what ropes are available that are as expensive as possible and as poorly-suited to caving as possible.
Is there an option out there that will both deplete my savings and kill me?

I'd be happy to deplete your savings and kill you. Clearly this would benefit us all. Just say the word. :waving:

Ha! As long as it results in a Cavechat thread where people argue about the cause of my untimely death. Can I use my Simple so the anti-bobbin people are able to claim it caused the rope to break?

It's been too long. What did I do without Cavechat?

Obviously you bottled up your emotions instead of participating in forum group therapy. Or seeking professional help. :tonguecheek:

Here's the rope for you. It's a bit cheap, but for you I could mark it up to, say, $10 a foot. How's that?

No no no, make sure you use a munter on an aluminum "key-chain" biner.

Good lord brotherman, it was an honest question. I haven't any experience, you have. I apologize for my ignorance.

I think you are incorrectly assuming this is a shot at you in the other thread. It's not. Relax. I just thought it would be amusing (for about 10 seconds) to ask the opposite question. Nobody is calling you ignorant. In fact, your question in the other thread is a very good one that more people should ask, because too many people make those purchase decisions without asking around first... my first piece of rope was a length of New England KM3 that I thought was a "deal" until I realized how quickly it was going to wear out. If I'd asked around first, I'd have bought some Pit Rope.

silk, right out of the worm, wrapped around #18 sterling silver wire. Both very expensive and very fragile. Beat that?

Is that Run DMC? I love how, like, I leave Cavechat for a year and now Scott's posts are even more bizarre than mine.
