Something a little different from Caver Keith Videos - a product review.

We've always struggled to get good video in large cave passages so we tried out some 3800 lumen FD65 focusing torches from Fenix. The torches were able to light up some of the largest passages and they are absolutely brilliant for video. The range of light settings and the fact that at flood setting there isn't a trace of a hotspot make them ideal caving video lights. Have a look at the video and see what you think.

Filmed in Agen Allwedd, South Wales on Sunday 11th March 2018.

So you caved far enough that you were back in 1812? :funny post: Is bringing music stands into caves the new ironing board meme?
The subject seriously is 100 meters from the camera??? What was the camera? GoPro or other?
Now you've cost me money...I've got to get a FD65 focusing light and take it into Sunset Dome (reportedly the largest in Kentucky) and see how it does. :cavingrocks:

And, yes, I know the Overture was written for a performance in 1882...so maybe you weren't as far into the cave as I thought!! :funny post:

The chamber (room?) is called the music room and there has been a music stand there for as long as I can remember. I don't know how it got it's name.

The camera I used for the large passage shots is a Panasonic Lumix GX7. I would have tried out the GoPro Hero 6 as well but I forgot to pack it. Doh. Remember for the shot of Mark walking away from the camera he was holding 3 FD65 torches.

Thanks. One 65, I can afford right now. Three would be cause for divorce...

I must say you have got me interested in purchasing one of these lights. Did you purchase the Fenix batteries with the light? I was curious how picky the light is with regard to the batteries, as the ones that Fenix recommends are rather pricey ($40 for a pair, and the light takes 4 batteries)!

Did you buy their batteries? Or use another type/brand?

Thanks!

Hi Trogman,
The batteries and chargers came with the torches so I’m afraid I can’t say how the torches would perform with third party batteries.
