Cave Photography Course at Mammoth Cave

I've signed on to teach a cave photography course at Mammoth Cave this summer. It will include daily field trips in Mammoth and other nearby caves, with focus on all aspects of cave photography, from macro to big rooms and everything in-between, as well as all manner of lighting sources (strobes, bulbs, LEDs, show cave lights). We'll shoot by day, then review images and looks at post-processing techniques in Photoshop. My course is from June 10-14 and will be based at the CRF field station in Hamilton Valley. The Hoffman Environmental Research Institute through its Center for Cave and Karst Studies and in cooperation with the Mammoth Cave International Center for Science and Learning and Western Kentucky University, United States, are pleased to announce the launch of the Summer 2013 Karst Field Studies Program. Courses this summer will include:

- Cave Photography, June 10-14, Dr. Dave Bunnell
- Karst Hydrology June 17-21, Drs. William White and Nicholas Crawford
- Cave Biology and Ecosystems, June 17-21, Dr. Dave Ashley

Courses may be taken for graduate, undergraduate, or continuing education credit. Courses may also be taken just for fun as non-credit workshops.

For anyone considering signing up for my Cave Photography course at Mammoth Cave this summer, note that the early registration deadline is coming up: April 12. One can still register through May 10 but the cost goes up 20%
The course is scheduled for June 10-14th and will be based out of the Hamilton Valley field station just outside Mammoth Cave National Park. It will feature daily caving trips to Mammoth and nearby caves and will be a "hands on" covering both basic and advanced topics in cave photography including close-ups, speleothems, action shots, passages, entrances, and big rooms, as well as post processing in photoshop.
